The children want to start collecting plastic bottle tops to recycle with Lids4Kids. They meet a nice volunteer who will drive their lids to Canberra for them. Then they send a letter home to their families and ask them to collect plastic bottle tops from milk bottles, pop bottles and water bottles. The children enjoy washing the lids in warm soapy water with their family (and pet dog). Next week all the children bring in a bag of lids each. Together they group the lids into colour groups. The nice volunteer pick them up and takes them to Lids4Kids in Canberra. The lids are then turned into a rainbow colored park bench. The teacher surprises the children by buying the rainbow park bench for their playground.

Turkey and ham, piled high with some cheese, “Just look at this goodness! I’ll eat it with ease!” “Don’t forget mustard! It adds a big zing!” He squeezed on a dollop—oh, what joy it can bring! Then he topped it with pickles, so crunchy and round, “A yummy sandwich! It’s the best to be found!” He placed the last slice on top with a thud, And gave it a press with a big happy “thud!” “Now, let’s cut it in half, so easy to share, I’ll take one to my friends, with love and with care!” With a plate full of sandwiches, Sammy did grin, “Making a sandwich is such a win-win! It’s fun to create, with flavors to mix, A sandwich adventure—a tasty fix!” So if you feel hungry and don’t know what to do, Just follow Sam’s steps, and you’ll make one too! One day Layla wore her superpower costume and was mischievous in so many different ways. Her father told her she wasn’t super at all and sent her to her room without her lunch. Layla felt cross and angry. Just then, her room changed and it became the clouds in the sky. That night, Layla climbed into her private hot air balloon and soared high above the houses. She flew in and out of clouds and almost over a rainbow to the land where the giants live. Layla gazed at this place as her balloon approached. She could see tall trees that towered and stretched as high as the sky. She could see huge houses that lurked in the darkness beyond. She could even see fantastic flowers whose beautiful fragrance danced on the breeze. When she arrived at the place where the giants live, the giants stomped their enormous feet and boomed with their enormous voices and crunched their enormous teeth. Layla didn’t care. She waved at them cheerily and then they made her Queen of the Giants. Soon though, Layla grew weary of the Giants and dreamed of her home. So she climbed back into her hot air balloon, drifted through clouds and almost over a rainbow until she landed back in the warmth of her very own room.
