I knew Harvey in play school, even before my sister Sylvie did. He fell in love with her, and she probably saved him from himself. Each to her own tastes, I always say, for I could never have lived with a man like him. Harvey was an oddball even at age 2. He played only with toys of a single colour. The triangle, square and circle all had to be red, or all blue, otherwise, he wouldn’t fit them into his puzzle. All his toy cars had to be black. If they were blue or yellow, his dad had to paint them black, or he wouldn’t touch them. And every night, he parked them beside his bed in tidy rows. If you pushed one out of place inadvertently, he’d get out of bed and settle the lot again.

One bright morning, Donkey, Fredrick the Frog, Marble the white bear, and Big Bear Brown packed their bags. They were moving to a new home in a forest far, far away. Though they were excited, they also felt a little nervous. As they walked along the winding path, Donkey kicked a small stone and sighed. "What if we don't like our new home?" he asked. Fredrick the Frog hopped onto Donkey's back. "Don't worry, Donkey! We’ll make it fun, together!" His cheerful croak made Donkey smile. Marble the white bear, soft and fluffy as snow, was thinking too. "Will we make new friends there?" she asked quietly. Big Bear Brown, towering over everyone with his big, warm smile, gave Marble a gentle pat. "Of course we will," he said. "As long as we're together, anywhere can feel like home." When they arrived at the forest, everything seemed new and strange. The trees were taller, the grass was softer, and the birds sang songs they'd never heard before. "Let's explore!" Fredrick called, hopping ahead. He found a small pond with sparkling water. Marble splashed her paws in it, giggling. Donkey and Big Bear Brown joined in, and soon they were all laughing together. As the sun began to set, they found a cozy clearing with tall trees and soft moss—just the perfect spot for their new home. Donkey set up a comfy tent, Marble gathered some flowers, Fredrick built a small fire, and Big Bear Brown unpacked their snacks. “This place isn’t so bad after all,” Donkey said, feeling happier. "It’s better than good," Fredrick croaked. "It’s home." And as they huddled together under the twinkling stars, Donkey, Fredrick, Marble, and Big Bear Brown knew that no matter where they went, as long as they had each other, they would always be home. The End

Jeremiah Johnikin was a brave sort of fellow And so friendly that when you saw him, he would always say hello Jeremiah Johnikin lived in the kingdom of a mighty king Who had a huge mess A mess that needed a hero to make it less and less You see, there lived in the forest next to the castle A giant dragon bird who always wanted to battle None of the brave knights had the courage to go “Us fight that bird? Oh no! No!” Then came Jeremiah Johnikin handsome as ever And with a confident grin he said “I will go sire, and do as you desire, I will battle this dragon bird” When everyone heard they spread the word Jeremiah Johnikin was to rid the land Of this pest that had gotten out of hand Into the woods Jeremiah went, to face that terrible dragon bird Whose scream was the most horrible thing you ever heard But Jeremiah Johnikin, brave was he, he had no fear He went where the other knights did not dare Up to that giant dragon bird, his sword in the air With one giant swipe, a jab and a smack Jeremiah Johnikin beat that dragon bird back It screamed and wailed, then lowered its tail Then fell sideways off the trail. Jeremiah Johnikin was able to see That the dragon bird was tied to a tree It wanted to go home, that’s why it screamed so loud And frightened everyone in the crowd Jeremiah Johnikin took his sword and cut the rope That had robbed the giant dragon bird of hope The Hope of going home So up he flew and away he went Free at last from his terrible torment.
